Nike Football Advert 2008 – Take it to the next Level

The “Nike Football Advert 2008 – Take it to the next Level” advertisement is shot in the first person. The commercial begins with a teammate helping the advertisements main character, a soccer player, up off of the ground. He then hands the fallen player the soccer ball. The player kicks the ball into the net and the crowd erupts with cheers. The camera cuts over to a shot of recruiters on the sidelines watching this amazing kick as the music begins.

The next scene begins with a picture of the soccer player picking up his uniform with the nike insignia stitched on it and a quick shot of his locker in the team locker room. As the soccer player walks onto the field, you become part of the action as the ball is kicked over to the soccer player and he kicks the ball back into the fray of a game. The scene continues with training and a vigorous practice and ends with a kiss from another player after a great play during a game.

The camera next takes you to the inside of a limo sitting next to a beautiful woman. She opens the limo door and the player steps out to a crowd of screaming fans and photographers. The player is signing autographs on various body parts as cameras snap his picture and his beautiful girlfriend looks on. And then you’re back on the field in the middle of several games watching skillful plays.

The final scene brings you back to the beginning as you follow the player on the field zigzagging between players and making breath stopping plays. A collision knocks the player to the ground. Another player reaches down and helps the fallen player back up and hands him the ball. And, as in the beginning, the player kicks the ball. The ad ends with the line – Take it the next Level.

This commercial brings you into the action. That’s why it succeeds. You feel as if you are the player and are immersed in the action. The advertisement jumps from one scene to the next, engaging you with the action and the excitement.
